Other Ways to Give

There are a number of ways to support the United Way. Choose the option that best suits you and/or your organization's needs:

Giving Options for Individuals

In Memoriam
Give a donation in memory of a loved one, or name United Way Alberta Northwest as a designated charity in lieu of flowers.

The Gift of Securities
This is the most tax-effective way to donate, because it removes the taxation of capital gains. You will receive a tax receipt for the market value of your donation.

Planned Giving
Whether giving today or planning for the future, we can help you and/or your financial advisor plan a gift that meets your charitable, financial and tax goals.

  • Bequest - Leave a portion of your estate to United Way in your will.
  • Life Insurance Policies - Name United Way as a beneficiary in an existing policy, or purchase a new policy in United Way’s name.
  • RRSPs - If a portion or the entire amount of an RRSP is donated upon death, most or all taxes owing can be eliminated through careful planning

You may also wish to consider the gift of your time by volunteering.

Giving Options for Organizations

Sponsors are essential to helping us cover our costs thereby ensuring more donor dollars go directly to local agencies and programs.

Gift In Kind
Support United Way Alberta Northwest with a gift in kind: parking, events, advertising and much more.

Campaign Associate Program
This is a great way to give! Through the Campaign Associate Program, employers can loan an employee or sponsor someone to help United Way.

  • Loan us your star employee
An employee is loaned (seconded) from their organization to work for 16 weeks during United Way’s annual fundraising campaign from September to December. Campaign Associates act as fundraising project managers while leading volunteers and inspiring donors to make an impact on our community.
Employees return to their organizations with a host of new and upgraded skills and your company benefits from positive public exposure. United Way also extends its fundraising staff at no extra cost.
  • Unable to loan an employee? Sponsor an Associate.
A sponsored Associate is an individual hired by United Way whose bi-weekly honorarium is paid for by a sponsoring organization. A sponsored Associate plays the same role as a loaned Associate. Often, co-op students, retirees, or professionals in transition will apply for sponsored Associate roles.
